Washtenaw County Clean-Up Event

Location: Eastern Michigan University’s Rynearson Football Stadium, located at 799 N. Hewitt Rd, Ypsilanti.
Recycle Ann Arbor will be servicing the environmental Clean-Up Day for Washtenaw County residents, sponsored by the Washtenaw County Solid Waste Program and local units of government. The event is free, but there is a suggested $10 donation per car to help decrease disposal costs and to help maintain this community collection.

This event provides an opportunity for residents to dispose of many unwanted household items in a safe and sustainable manner. Numerous household materials can be brought to this event, including:

  • Traditional recyclable materials (plastics, glass, tin, cardboard, paper)
  • Scrap metal
  • Freon appliances (air conditioners, refrigerators, etc.)
  • Household hazardous wastes (cleaning supplies, motor oil, mercury, oil based paints, etc.)
  • Furniture
  • Tires
  • Yard waste
  • Electronic equipment (computers, televisions, toasters, etc.)
  • Sharps (diabetic needles, etc.).

Residents may bring up to four tires for free, but will be suggested to donate $5 for each additional tire.  Residents can also bring one television, Freon containing appliance, or computer, but will be suggested to donate $10 for each additional item.  No household garbage will be accepted at this collection event.

This is a service for Washtenaw County residents only, funded and coordinated by the Washtenaw County Solid Waste Program, EMU, Ann Arbor City and Superior Township.  All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend.  This collection is intended for residential use only – please, no businesses.

For more information, please visit http://recycle.ewashtenaw.org or call the Washtenaw County Solid Waste Program at (734) 222-3827.

A Day at the Urban Sawmill

Location: ReUse Center, 2420 S. Industrial Hwy.

The ReUse Center is celebrating the Urbanwood Marketplace, the Urbanwood Project, and local family sawmills. Watch local reclaimed logs being processed by local urbanwood sawmill operators—scanned for metal, roughly cut with a sawmill, planed to a smooth dimension and surface, finished with an edger, as well as an Alaskan mill in action!

Over 25 local hardwoods on display and for sale in our lumber racks - a gift shop with art work, cutting boards, and picture frames made from urbanwood. A scavenger hunt and kids can view the big recycling trucks up close.

Bring the whole family for food, demonstrations, information on local hardwood recycling, and the famous and full ReUse Center warehouse as well.
