The 12th annual Mayor’s Green Fair will be held on Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 8, 2012. Recycle Ann Arbor is working with organizers and food vendors in an effort to make the event zero-landfill. Volunteers will be located at zero-landfill stations to educate the public about what can be recycled and composted.
There will be free entertainment, food, crafts and over 120 exhibits in three sections:
- Environmental Leaders
- Clean Energy Expo
- Green Commute and Alternative Transportation
The Environmental Leaders section will feature Washtenaw County environmental non-profits and Waste Knot partners, organizations recognized by Washtenaw County for exhibiting leadership in waste reduction and recycling. The Clean Energy Expo will feature green building, alternative energy vehicles, and solar and renewable energy technologies from organizations such as the Clean Energy Coalition. The Green Commute section will highlight sustainable transportation, including the getDowntown program, Ann Arbor Transit Authority’s buses, Zipcars, Bike Fest, and a 7-seater conference bike. There will also be crafts and music and organic food from Silvio’s Organic Pizza and Pilar’s Tamales.
Main Street will be closed to traffic from Huron to East William for the event.
The Mayor’s office is searching for volunteers to help with set up and tear down of the fair. Call 734-794-6161 ext. 41602 for more information and to sign up.
