The ReUse Center and iSold It Ann Arbor team up to promote reuse
iSold it Ann Arbor is celebrating their one year anniversary by teaming up with Recycle Ann Arbor's ReUse Center to promote the reuse of your unwanted items. Beginning May 19, iSold It Ann Arbor, an eBay drop-off store located in the Colonnade Center on W. Eisenhower Parkway (just east of Ann Arbor-Saline Rd), will be offering a reduced commission of 25% on any item brought in with the sale proceeds going to Recycle Ann Arbor.

Since iSold It Ann Arbor opened its doors one year ago, Recycle Ann Arbor has contributed to their success by providing them with reclaimed packing materials from the Materials Recovery Facility, saving them considerable money. iSold It Ann Arbor also sent many items that they determined unsellable on eBay to the ReUse Center, further helping to keep items out of landfills.

As a way to thank Recycle Ann Arbor, iSold It Ann Arbor will kick off the fundraising drive for Recycle Ann Arbor with a Drop Drive beginning Friday May 19 and running through Saturday May 27. After that date, iSold it will continue to accept items on an ongoing basis. Anyone bringing an item simply needs to advise iSold It staff that the proceeds should go to Recycle Ann Arbor.

"I'm delighted to have this opportunity to give something back to Recycle Ann Arbor," Carol Kamm, iSold It Ann Arbor's owner, said. "Having free peanuts available to us at the MRF has meant a savings of hundreds of dollars for us over the course of the past year. For a new business on a very tight budget, that means a lot."

Recycle Ann Arbor's ReUse Center has been collecting and reselling reusable household items, electronics, sporting goods, furniture and building materials since 1997. Every year the ReUse Center prevents up to 2,400 tons of useful material from ending up in landfills. Proceeds from the ReUse Center goes towards operational costs of the center as well as supporting other Recycle Ann Arbor programs such as the Environmental House. The ReUse Center is located at 2420 South Industrial Hwy in Ann Arbor. They're open Monday through Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM, accepting donations until 4 PM. For more information on what's accepted, visit their website at www.recycleannarbor.org.

iSold It Ann Arbor is an eBay drop-off store that helps its customers sell unwanted items. When customers bring items they want to sell, trained iSold It team members work with each customer to collect information important for an item's listing and research its possible sale value (a minimum of $40 is required). With a goal of realizing the highest possible value for each item, iSold It professionally photographs and describes each item, highlighting important and unique details. iSold It then posts the auction on eBay, tracks the item during the selling period, processes the buyer's payment and packs and ships the item. After the item sells, a check is mailed to the seller or designated nonprofit.

Almost anything and everything can sell online. Popular items include musical instruments, electronics (cameras, computers, PDAs, DVD players, and cell phones), designer clothing, antiques and collectibles, and sports equipment. Businesses often use iSold It to dispose of surplus equipment or inventory. There is no fee to list merchandise with iSold It. Rather, the company charges a progressive commission based on an item's final sale price. If an item doesn't sell, the customer can choose to pick it up or donate it to charity.
