Recycle Ann Arbor Wins Environmental Excellence Award

May 11th, 2016

We were honored to receive the 2016 Waste Reduction and Recycling Award this past April.

Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioner Evan Pratt wrote–"In making a commitment to fulfill the requirements of the Waste Knot program, Recycle Ann Arbor has demonstrated a desire to protect Washtenaw County waterways and the environment by promoting practices that protect water quality, improve recycling and reduce waste. The Environmental Excellence Partnership Program was happy to promote Recycle Ann Arbor at the Awards Ceremony for your work in operating innovative reuse, recycling, and zero-waste programs throughout Southeast Michigan. Your efforts in managing Zero Waste Events has been monumental in invigorating people into reducing, reusing, and recycling."

Our mission is to develop and operate innovative reuse, recycling, and zero-waste programs that improve the environmental quality of our community and reduce the waste headed to the landfill. The Washtenaw County Environmental Excellence Award reminds us how great it is to work toward making a difference in a supportive community. Recycling is a community activity; it takes an engaged and caring group of citizens that are willing to put forth a bit of extra effort. Without a supportive, engaged community, recycling cannot be a success. For that, this award is for our community of recyclers. We thank the County and our entire community for this award.
