FAQs
Founded in 1996 by RAA in their continued effort to reduce
waste and conserve resources by providing an environmentally positive
alternative to discarding reusable items, the ReUse Center hosts more than
20,000 square feet of retail space and now accepts building materials
and office supplies as well as household goods.
Where
do the proceeds go?
The proceeds from the sale of items in the ReUse Center go towards maintaining
operations and to support waste reduction and recycling efforts in the
community.
Why
is Recycle Ann Arbor doing it?
RAA encourages people to reduce the amount of waste they generate
through the reuse of usable materials before buying new ones and
to recycle materials that can be made into new ones.
How
much stuff is diverted from landfills?
At any given time the warehouse holds 2500 cubic yards of usuable items
for sale and saved from the landfill. In an average week, over 100 cubic
yards of quality material is sold at the ReUse Center.
