What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide

Large appliances, no Freon

Large electric appliances that do not contain Freon, such as washers, dryers, stoves, microwaves, and other major appliances that are broken and not repairable, are accepted for recycling at the Drop-Off Station.

Recycle Right!

Do not put appliances of any kind in your curbside recycling cart. Bulky appliances damage equipment and create unsafe conditions for our workers.

Choose Zero Waste!

Try to repair your appliances before replacing them. Repair services and resources are available in and around Washtenaw County, such as All Hands Active. If not possible, donating unwanted but still usable items instead of throwing them away or recycling them is the best way to ensure they get reused!

Accepted locally for donation at:

  1. Habitat for Humanity Restore accepts stoves, washers, dryers, microwaves
  2. Kiwanis Thrift Sale accepts washers, dryers, dishwashers, and other home appliances
  3. Salvation Army Family Store and Donation Center accepts stoves, freezers, heaters, microwaves, washers, dryers, and other home appliances

While we do our best to stay updated on alternative reuse and recycling locations, we recommend that you call locations before taking your item(s) to confirm that they currently accept them.
