Acids and bases are most commonly used scientifically, and collected into a large drop-off bin. If you need to dispose of used acids and bases, take them to Washtenaw County's Home Toxics disposal site.

Common products that are inside aerosol cans are bug spray, WD-40, air freshener, bathroom cleaners, and hairspray.

Empty aerosol cans are accepted in Ann Arbor curbside recycling bins. Additionally, they are accepted for recycling at the Drop-Off Station and Recovery Yard.

Alkaline batteries should not be placed in the curbside recycling bin. We do not accept alkaline batteries at are not accepted at any division of RAA. Washtenaw County's Home Toxics disposal site accepts alkaline batteries for proper recycling.

Appliances, Freon, not working

Appliances containing freon must be handled appropriately in order to be recycled. Freon must first be safely drained and disposed of, in order to recycle the other materials. Due to the necessary specialized care in order to recycle, an extra fee of $28 per freon appliance will be charged.  Examples of freon appliances: air conditioners, refrigerators, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers.
