What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide

Video Game Consoles & Controllers, not working

Video game consoles and controllers that no longer work are not currently accepted at any Recycle Ann Arbor locations, however, they are accepted for recycling at many retailers for drop-off, as well as mail-in programs from the consoles' creators.

Recycle Right!

Video game consoles and controllers are not accepted in curbside recycling bins.

Live Zero Waste!

Buy video game consoles and controllers second hand, and properly recycle them when they no longer work.

Other Places These are Accepted:

  1. Nintendo (Nintendo Switch, Wii, DS, Gamecube, N64, NES) has a mail-in take-back program for all Nintendo products
  2. Sony (PlayStation) has a recycling program, check their website to find locations that accept Sony products
  3. Microsoft (Xbox) accepts old xboxes and controllers for recycling, check their website for participating locations
  4. Staples accepts all gaming consoles at their in-store recycling station

While we do our best to stay updated on alternative reuse and recycling locations, we recommend that you call locations before taking your item(s) to confirm that they currently accept them.
