What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide

Light Fixtures, metal

Lighting and wired light fixtures such as ceiling lights, wall lights, outdoor lights, and chandeliers that are in good usable condition are accepted for donation at Habitat for Humanity Restore. Metal light fixtures and ballasts that are broken and unusable are accepted as scrap metal for recycling at the Drop-Off Station and Recovery Yard. Lighting glass is not recyclable but is accepted for safe disposal as general waste. Remove all light bulbs prior to disposal.

Recycle Right!

Do not put glass, broken or otherwise in your curbside recycling cart. Non-food glass is not recyclable because it is made of a different type of glass than food jars and bottles and melt at different temperatures. If such glass is mixed with recyclable glass, it will contaminate it.

Scrap metal is also not accepted in curbside recycling carts but is accepted at the Drop-Off Station and Recovery Yard. Metal can be infinitely recycled without losing quality, please don't throw metal items in the trash, recycle them instead.

Choose Zero Waste!

Try to repair your lighting before replacing them. If not possible, donating unwanted but still usable items instead of throwing them away or recycling them is the best way to ensure they get reused!
