What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide

Appliances, Freon, not working

Appliances containing freon must be handled appropriately in order to be recycled. Freon must first be safely drained and disposed of, in order to recycle the other materials. Due to the necessary specialized care in order to recycle, an extra fee of $28 per freon appliance will be charged.  Examples of freon appliances: air conditioners, refrigerators, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers.

As of now we do not require the removal of doors from fridges and freezers.

Other Places These are Accepted:

  1. Best Buy accepts appliances for haul-away recycling when you buy an eligible replacement and have it delivered to your home for $24.99, or $99 without a qualifying purchase
  2. Lowe's accepts appliances for haul-away recycling when you have a new appliance delivered by them for $30
  3. Home Depot accepts appliances for haul-away recycling when having a new appliance delivered by them for an additional charge (not specified)

While we do our best to stay updated on alternative reuse and recycling locations, we recommend that you call locations before taking your item(s) to confirm that they currently accept them.
