What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide

Lamps

Floor and table lamps that are in good usable condition, are accepted for donation at locations throughout the A2 Area Reuse Network. Metal lamps that are broken and unusable are accepted as scrap metal for recycling at the Drop-Off Station and Recovery Yard. All other lamps are generally not recyclable but are accepted for safe disposal as general waste. Remove all light bulbs prior to disposal.

Recycle Right!

Do not put light bulbs or lamp glass into your curbside recycling cart. Non-food glass is not recyclable because it is made of a different type of glass than food jars and bottles and melt at different temperatures. If such glass is mixed with recyclable glass, it will contaminate it. Broken light blubs can release toxic materials, creating unsafe conditions for our workers.

Choose Zero Waste!

Try to repair, refurbish, or repurpose lamps first and find another use for them in your home; if not possible, donating unwanted but usable lamps instead of throwing them away or recycling them is the best way to ensure they get reused!

While we do our best to stay updated on alternative reuse and recycling locations, we recommend that you call locations before taking your item(s) to confirm that they currently accept them.
